Bhaisajyaguru is the Medicine Buddha, invoked by Buddha Shakyamuni to maintain the health of all beings. It is believed that he resides in the pure land of Vaidūryanirbhāsa, located in the eastern part of the universe.
Bhaisajyaguru is depicted surrounded by his six brothers (Svaraghoṣa Rāja, Supari Kīrtita Nāma Srī Raja, Suvarṇa Bhadra Vimala, Aśokotama Srī, Abhijñā Raja, Dharmakīrti Sāgara Ghoṣa), with Buddha Shakyamuni above the central figure.
In the lower section of the thangka, in the center, the wrathful Dharmapala Shanglon Dorje Dudul is featured.
