Benedict XV (before consecration - Jacopo Marquis de la Chiesa; 1854 - 1922) - Pope from 1914 to 1922. Favored the idea of reviving Ukrainian statehood; maintained contact with Metropolitan Andrey Sheptytski. He founded the Congregation for the Affairs of the Eastern Churches and the Pontifical Institute of the East in Rome.
