                                    A figure of Bes is shown on a small semicircular base in a seated position, unclothed. His hands are folded on his knees, and he has a beard on his face. The back view is schematic, with an elongated head. There is a hole in the back, and he has a tail. The figure is hollow. Bes is a general name for dwarf deities, considered guardians of the household, family, protectors against evil spirits and poisonous animals (such as snakes), and patrons of fertility, childbirth, and children.
