John Paul II (Karol Wojtyla, 1920 - 2005) - Pope from 1978 to 2005. He was canonized in 2014. The first Slavic pope. Contributed to the acceleration of the collapse of the Soviet Union, the liberation of the countries of Central and Eastern Europe, and participated in the legalization of the UGCC. During an official visit to Ukraine in 2001, he announced the beatification of 27 martyrs.
